⯌ Oath of Devotion
Godfrey lives his life by the guiding lights of his Oath of Devotion, and in return, is bequeathed blessings and gifts by Lathander in order to continue doing His work. Godfrey is protected from disease by the divine magic channeled through him. He may lend his allies healing, protection, and holy boons in battle, channeling his faith and Lathander's light through their weapons. Godfrey is also capable of channeling his faith outward, to strike demons and undead with the fear of the Dawnfather.
Here is a post with more information about Lathander and the tenets of Godfrey's Oath.
⯌ Civil Militia Though Godfrey began his adult life in the cloth, and though he retains many of his priestly leanings, he has since traded it for steel and plate and chain. Godfrey is gentle, but physically imposing. His training has made him adept in both fighting and maneuvering in heavier armor.
⯌ Illithid Wisdom Godfrey has been, unfortunately, infected with an illithid tadpole. This infection threatens to transform him into a mind flayer, but has also granted him certain abilities beyond his normal capabilities - most notably, the ability to read the thoughts of non-infected individuals, and the ability to detect and pry into the minds of those who are infected.

⯌ Shipping ‼ ✔ as a rule, m/m only! very open to and EXTREMELY hungry for gen with the girlies, just not shipping.
as stated below, he's a grieving widower and single dad, so he'll be a slow burn for shipping and i'll usually reach out to discuss prior if that's what i'm interested in! im open to any guy who wants a shot regardless of medium/canon/whatever but most of the time if i tag out i am looking for gen, barring the obvious context of the meme. i will directly reach out and propose shipping to check if it's okay before i tag you!!
⯌ Off-Limits no shipping with kids, no shipping with immortals who look like kids. thats basically it i think?
⯌ Other he's got like weird brainworms that let him read minds and look at thoughts, we can just yank em out or ignore it if youd prefer though

Info
As a foundling, Godfrey grew up sheltered by the Church of the Morninglord, knowing no family but the Church and no life without the dawn. Inevitably, steeped in sunlight and scripture, he found himself as devoted to it as it had been to him. Godfrey began working toward priesthood at a relatively young age, devoting himself to study and serving the Father of Dawn with his life.
His dedication led him to pledge his service as a Lathanderian priest. Godfrey served his church proudly as a Dawnbringer in Baldur's Gate, devoting himself entirely to his flock, his God, and His teachings. He was tireless in nurturing his community by sharing the Morninglord's light, and became naturally involved in the lives of those he led and those who did not attend equally. Godfrey made the light of Dawn available to all who would seek it.
One such individual was a man called Vladimir, a mason. Sparing and stoic, Vladimir came to Godfrey to receive blessings and healing as it was needed, and occasionally plied his services in maintaining the Church's proud steeples and fixtures. Godfrey's relationship with this man rarely exceeded professional boundaries, until he noticed him with a small child.
Vladimir had created a little girl after an evening of discretion, and her Elven mother was not an easy presence in her life. The baby was abandoned some months later at his front steps, and seeing no other choice but to abandon the child again, Vladimir began the difficult road of raising her on his own. Godfrey's faith and Lathander's special fondness for the newly born meant that he couldn't stand by - Godfrey applied the aid of the Church.
His help first walked the same distanced line as the rest of their relationship did; he helped to feed and clothe the baby girl, Iltha. However, as Vladimir struggled and stumbled over sleepless nights, Godfrey offered more of his help - he began watching Iltha as he worked in the church, swaddling her to his chest as he performed his clergy duties. By this, Godfrey involved himself further in the lives of both father and daughter, over time unraveling the professional distance that had so characterized their relationship to this point. Godfrey nurtured fondness, first for Iltha and then for Vladimir. As Godfrey made a fixture of himself in Vladimir's family, he found in Vladimir a friend, a co-parent, and the love of his life. They married.
Now officially joined to Vladimir as his husband, Godfrey began building this new life with ease, raising their daughter as a unified team. Their family formed and continued forward through the years in quiet, bucolic bliss.
Unbeknownst to Godfrey, however, something waited to unsettle this new life. It ambushed the two of them on one mild afternoon, when Godfrey came to find Vladimir struggling with a knife. The flashing blade was turned against Godfrey when he came to his side. It was here that Godfrey saw the situation for what it was - Vladimir was crazed with pain and sickness, suffering in the throes of magical rot eating at his arm. The veil lifted in a moment, and Godfrey eased Vladimir down, unraveling the knife from his white-knuckled grasp. He explained nothing. He would only say that Godfrey needed to kill him before he became a danger to him and their child.
Godfrey rejected this with all of his being. Panic rising, he tried the simple magic and rites, everything he knew, as Vladimir's flesh bubbled and his veins flushed sickly purple beneath his skin as he urged him again and again to end it. When simple magic couldn't help its alarming spread, Godfrey gave him something to bite on and reluctantly amputated Vladimir's arm, tying a tourniquet and hacking it at the elbow with Vladimir's own stonecutting axe. Vladimir, flushed with sweat and fading to something Godfrey could not understand, once again begged to be killed before it was too late. Godfrey balked. Vladimir grabbed at the handle of his axe and dragged its edge across his throat. His last word was "sorry."
Since that day, Godfrey has carried the stinking smell of his blood and rot, raising Iltha with those same shaking hands. The weakness in his hands and the blank, selfish panic in his mind have never left him. Determined to never again hesitate when action is needed. Godfrey re-dedicated himself to Lathander as a Paladin, undertaking an oath of devotion, determined to strengthen himself and to never again let his hands falter when they are needed.
For all that he's tried to bring himself away from that day, though, he often feels as though he's still there.
Kneeling on the floor and watching that foul blood pool.
